Event: GA Resolutions 1123, 1124, 1125 (XI)
The resolution "notes with regret and concern" the failure of Israel to complete its withdrawal behind the Armistice lines. On 2 February 1957, GA Resolution 1124 (XI) "deplores" again Israel's non-compliance with UN resolutions. However, on the same day, and taking into account Israel's refusal to withdraw from the Sharm al-Shaykh and Gaza areas, GA Resolution 1125 (XI) is adopted. It seeks to reassure Israel by asserting that, after full withdrawal of Israel from the Sharm al-Shaykh and Gaza areas, the scrupulous maintenance of the Armistice Agreement requires the placing of the UN Emergency Force on the Egypt-Israel armistice demarcation line.
