Event: The King-Crane Commission Tours the Region and Makes a Recommendation

The 1919 Paris Peace Conference decides to send an international commission of inquiry to ascertain the aspirations of Near East peoples. The commission (known as the King-Crane Commission) tours the region in June-July 1919 and recommends in its report that "the project for making Palestine distinctly a Jewish commonwealth should be given up."
